Courses and Descriptions
At Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, foreign languages lessons have been performed through distance learning method since 2014-2015 Academic Year. Distance learning is an institutional activity in which the students, the teachers and the educational materials in different locations brought together thanks to the communication technology. The students can monitorize the lessons by entering the distance learning system from their accounts.(https://uzem.beun.edu.tr/)Thanks to this method, the students have the opportunity to follow the lessons in their pace and repeat and watch the lessons whenever and wherever they want. Lesson materials have been prepared by the lecturers of foreign languages department regarding of suitable levels. Our lecturers follow the lessons in their offices in Incirharmani Campus and are always available for our students' request of face to face meeting. Forums have been opened by our lecturers to supply the students' active attendance and give the opportunity enable them to ask questions about the lesson context during the lesson hours and the students' participation is expected.

YDL 183 (Fall Term) Course Content
The lesson Yabancı Dil I coded YDL183 is the foreign language lesson taught to the students of first class in the fall term at the departments having compulsory preparatory education. The lesson has been performed through distance learning by the lecturers of foreign languages department. The lesson level is B1 and it is aimed the students taking the lesson to have B1 leveled skills at the end of the term. The students have to take the lesson and pass to be able to graduate in case they aren't held exempt. The lesson Yabancı Dil I coded YDL183 doesn't have a prior condition lesson.

Office Hours
Every Thursday (between the hours 16:00 and 17:00) at Tahir Karauguz Conference Hall, students can meet their teachers and discuss course materials or ask for extra help.
The Cases of Exemption
Exemption from Foreign Languages (YDL) courses
1. to pass the exemption exam done by the Department of Foreign Languages at the beginning of each academic year
2. to take and pass the course in another institution of higher education (Faculty/school of the student have the right to give the decision of exemption)
Achievement
Students have to complete at least 70 % of their on-line course materials as a prerequisite for passing YDL 183, YDL 184, YDL 185 and YDL 186 courses which are given within the distance-learning program. 40% of the midterm score and 60%of the final score are used in order to calculate the passing grade. Each department has their own evaluation criteria, and system toward passing grade. The students taking YDL courses will be evaluated according to these criteria.
