Mission, Vision and Aims

1. Our Mission

In alignment with Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University mission and quality policy, we aim to provide our students with language education based on international frameworks (CEFR), adapting to their assessed proficiency levels and learning progression, so that they acquire the language skills required for their target proficiency level. By utilizing relevant digital educational technologies, we support our students through both in-class and extracurricular activities, helping them develop autonomous learning skills. We support the continuous development of our teaching staff, contributing to their academic and professional growth to provide the highest quality education. Our goal is to enable that students complete their language learning process in the most efficient way possible, strengthening their communication skills and leading them to success.

2. Our Vision

The vision of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, School of Foreign Languages is to be one of the best language education preparatory programs in Turkey by improving its successful position reached by implementing student-centered modern language teaching methods and advanced educational technology with its teaching staff who are bound to Atatürk’s principles, prone to teamwork, collaborative, innovative, dynamic, productive and competent.

3. Our Aims

The duration of the preparatory program is one academic year.
At the end of this period students will be able to

  • Ensure students achieve their target language proficiency levels by acquiring language skills appropriate to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) levels.
  • Enrich students' language learning processes and contribute to the development of their self-directed learning skills by integrating current digital education technologies into both in-class and out-of-class learning environments.
  • Encourage students to effectively utilize language learning strategies, overcome challenges encountered during their learning processes, and develop their ability to adapt to new linguistic situations.
  • Continuously support the professional and academic development of teaching staff, ensuring they maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality language education.
  • Enable students to complete their language learning journey most efficiently, tracking their individual learning progress and offering support tailored to their needs.
  • Contribute to students' cultural and professional success by enabling them to effectively use their acquired language skills in communication settings.
  • Enhance students' abilities to understand, analyze, and think critically about various texts, as well as enable them to produce grammatically and formally correct, fluent written texts appropriate to their level.
  • Develop students' skills in understanding conversations in different contexts (daily chats, academic presentations, news, etc.) and expressing themselves clearly and effectively in these situations.
  • Ensure students gain knowledge about the cultures where target languages are spoken, and develop their skills in preventing misunderstandings and establishing effective interactions in intercultural communication using this knowledge.
