Our School of Foreign Languages participated in the 17th YDYO (School of Foreign Languages) Administrators Meeting held on May 15–16, 2025, hosted by Kocaeli University, with the attendance of administrators from Schools of Foreign Languages across Türkiye.
School Director Lecturer Okşan Dağlı, Vice Director Lecturer Dr. Sevda Çimen, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages Lecturer Dr. Gizem Parsova, and Deputy Head of Department Lecturer Pelin Balkan attended the meeting held at Kocaeli University’s Umuttepe Campus on May 15–16, 2025. Panels and focus group meetings, attended by directors of Schools of Foreign Languages from all over Türkiye and representatives from the sector, addressed the current state, hidden aspects, and limitations of foreign language education, along with solution proposals. Topics also included quality assurance and accreditation processes, school operations and administrative procedures, digitalization and artificial intelligence in educational and administrative contexts, assessment and evaluation, level/modular systems and curriculum development, service courses & English language instruction, internationalization, and (joint) project opportunities.
The opening ceremony featured speeches from the Founding Chair of the YDYO Administrators Platform, Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Engınarlar, and the Director of Kocaeli University School of Foreign Languages, Lecturer Şule Kılcı.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed, including challenges in foreign language education and potential solutions, the role of technology in language teaching, use of digital learning platforms, teacher qualifications, curriculum design, diversification of language exposure environments for students, and student motivation in language learning.
