Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University ranked first in the University Monitoring and Evaluation Report of the Higher Education Council (YOK) in 2021 based on the number of awards received in the fields of zero waste, green campus, and environmentalism, which were initiated throughout the country by our president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife, Mrs. Emine Erdoğan.
As a university, the planning and implementation stages of the zero-waste program will require extensive cooperation and participation at the highest levels of the organization. Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University has achieved success with a waste reduction plan that includes minimizing waste, using resources more efficiently, reducing trash production, constructing an efficient collection system, and recycling garbage.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çufalı, rector of Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University, began his comments on the matter by highlighting the significance of nationwide zero-waste initiatives. He said that they are pleased to be one of the "greenest" institutions in the country and Turkey in terms of nature-integrated campuses, trash recycling, transportation, infrastructure, and energy efficiency. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çufalı, the university's rector, stated, "We are progressing in line with the same strategic goal as the relevant institutions in environmental policies and recycling." He emphasized that the university adheres to the principle of "zero waste" and that this sensitivity is maintained through sustainable policies. Our institution is a model of environmental consciousness due to its environmentally conscientious students and staff. In all of our schools and administrative buildings, zero-waste procedures continue with accuracy. As a university that influences the future of new generations, it is our mission to leave future generations a planet that is greener and more habitable. Our institution will maintain its attention to the environment, nature, and zero-waste activities. As a consequence of these investigations, we are pleased that Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University is placed first in the YOK University Monitoring and Evaluation Report for the number of honors earned in the disciplines of zero waste, green campus, and environmentalism. He remarked that he would like to congratulate the administrative and academic personnel for their contributions to this accomplishment. As a result of the establishment of the 2nd Class Waste Retrieval and Solid Waste Storage Centers in the Farabi and İbn-i Sina campuses within the scope of the Zero Waste Project, which was implemented precisely in our campuses, and the studies conducted in our other campuses; all campuses in provinces and districts have successfully completed an important process by obtaining the "Zero Waste Certificate" simultaneously.
